VIDEO: Groups arrive Ojude Oba venue in style

Socio-cultural groups and age grades have arrived at the venue of the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on Friday in a colourful display of traditional attire and cultural pageantry. Videos shared by EwesoOnline via Instagram on Friday showed the groups, adorned in coordinated and richly embroidered outfits. From flowing agbadas and geles to intricately beaded accessories, attendees turned out in regal fashion. The festival, held on the third day after Eid-el-Kabir, draws thousands of guests annually, including politicians, celebrities, and members of the Nigerian diaspora, all converging to celebrate Ijebu culture and identity. PUNCH Online reports that the Ogun State Police Command deployed more than 2,500 personnel from various tactical units to provide security during the festival. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the deployment includes personnel from the Police Mobile Force, Special Weapons and Tactics Unit, Violent Crime Response Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Monitoring Unit, Force Intelligence Department and other specialised operational units. “In line with this proactive operational strategy, the command has deployed over 2,500 police personnel, including conventional officers and tactical teams drawn from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), SWAT, Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Monitoring Unit, Force Intelligence Department, and other specialised operational units across Ijebu Ode and adjoining communities where the festival will be celebrated within Ogun State,” he stated.
