The Edo North Caucus of the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, has declared its support for Dandy Oserei as an aspirant for the Edo State House of Assembly representing Owan East Constituency. The endorsement was contained in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday and signed by the Edo North Caucus Leader of NYAN, Maka Achogbor. The group said the decision followed wide consultations across Edo State, with particular focus on Edo North, where youth stakeholders reportedly agreed on Oserei’s candidature. According to the caucus, Oserei, a former Secretary of the Edo State Lottery Regulatory Commission, was selected based on what it described as his performance in office and commitment to governance. “Hon. Dandy Imoukhuede Oserei distinguished himself through his role in overseeing and regulating lottery and gaming activities within the state. His tenure was marked by transparency, accountability, and improved revenue generation for Edo State,” the statement said. The group said the endorsement reflects a collective position of youth stakeholders in the state, stressing that it aligns with efforts to promote youth inclusion in governance. “This endorsement reflects the collective decision of youth stakeholders and honourable members of the Assembly, demonstrating a firm commitment to aligning with leadership that prioritises youth development, inclusiveness, and sustainable progress,” it stated. Speaking at the caucus meeting, Edo North Leader of NYAN, Achogbor (aka Liberty), described the decision as unanimous and progressive. “Hon. Amb. Maka Jude Achogbor (aka LIBERTY), described the unanimous endorsement as a bold, timely, and progressive step in the right direction,” the statement said. He added that Oserei’s track record influenced the decision. “According to him, Hon. Oserei has consistently demonstrated dedication to the welfare of young people and the overall advancement of Edo State. He emphasised that the Assembly’s support is grounded in careful evaluation, broad consultations, and the collective interest of the youth population,” it stated. The caucus further said the endorsement represents youth aspirations in Owan East Constituency. “This endorsement represents the voice and aspirations of youths across Edo State, particularly in Owan East Constituency. It reflects our confidence in a leader who has demonstrated genuine commitment to youth empowerment and meaningful development. We believe in his capacity to deliver effective representation and purposeful leadership,” the statement added. The group further urged youths in Owan East Constituency to support credible leadership and remain actively engaged in the political process, saying the move was part of efforts to strengthen youth participation in governance across Edo State.
