Yemen's Houthis Fire Ballistic Missiles at Israel, Declare War on Israel

The Iranian proxy terrorist group: “With the help of Allah Almighty and relying upon Allah, (we) have carried out the first military operation using a barrage of ballistic missiles.” For the first time since the start of Operation Epic Fury, Iran’s proxy terrorist group Houthis launched ballistic missiles at Israel, dragging Yemen into the month-old war. “Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis confirmed on Saturday that they had launched an attack on Israel for the first time during the current Israeli-U.S. war against Iran, marking their entry to the conflict,” Reuters reported Saturday morning. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the successful interception of a Houthi ballistic missile over the southern Israeli city of Beersheba on Saturday morning. Ahead of the missile attack, Houthis’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, boasted that their “fingers are on the trigger for direct military intervention” on behalf of Iran. (@ariel_oseran) March 27, 2026 The Jerusalem Post reported the first Houthi attack of the war: A missile was launched from Yemen toward Israeli territory on Saturday morning, marking the first such attack by the Iran-backed Houthis since Operation Roaring Lion began a month ago, the IDF has confirmed. Air defense systems were activated to intercept the threat, the military said, as sirens sounded across Beersheba and surrounding communities in the Negev. Residents were instructed to follow Home Front Command guidelines amid the unfolding situation. Shortly before the sirens, the IDF identified the launch originating from Yemen, with the projectile heading toward southern Israel. Alerts were subsequently triggered in Beersheba and nearby areas, while a preliminary warning was also issued regarding the possibility of sirens in Eilat. The Houthis enter the conflict as the U.S. military intensifies operations to break Iran’s stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, which accounts for around 20% of global oil trade. If Iran loses its grip on the strategic waterway, the Houthis could attack U.S. naval ships or try to block the Strait of Mandeb, another energy chokepoint between the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. “Their apparent aim is to hinder the movement of U.S. aircraft carriers through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, particularly if President Donald Trump decides to open the Strait of Hormuz or launch a large-scale air, naval and ground operation in the Persian Gulf,” Israel’s Ynetnews observes. “The Houthis have the capability to threaten large vessels with anti-ship missiles, drones and explosive-laden speedboats — and potentially to disrupt traffic in the Bab el-Mandeb using naval mines.” Meanwhile, the U.S. is bolstering its naval presence in the region, with USS George HW Bush poised to enter the fray. The BBC reports: The USS George HW Bush aircraft carrier, a floating airbase that can carry over 80 aircraft, will be deploying to US Central Command in the Middle East, multiple sources tell the BBC’s US partner CBS News. The massive carrier and its strike group completed pre-deployment training earlier this month, and now could be joining US operations in Iran, US officials tell CBS. Two guided missile destroyers – the USS Donald Cook and the USS Mason – also departed the US this week en route to join US operations in Iran. And another, the USS Ross, has also left the US this week, though its destination is not yet public. According to CBS News, citing a number of unnamed sources, the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier will be deploying to the Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR), amidst ongoing operations against Iran. Arak is home to Iran’s key nuclear reactor, which, according to the Israel Hayom newspaper, is “capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium.” The plant in Yazd is used to process uranium for the weapons program. “The sites were struck in parallel with the heavy water plant in Arak, which served as a key production site of plutonium for nuclear weapons, and a unique facility in Iran used to produce explosive materials required for the uranium enrichment process, located in Yazd,” the IDF added. “The strike sortie included three waves of strikes that lasted several hours, during which main facilities of the nuclear weapons program in Arak and Yazd, as well as weapons production sites of the Iranian regime’s forces, were targeted.” On Saturday afternoon, the IDF announced hitting the headquarters of the Iranian naval ships and weapons production. “The IDF struck the headquarters of the Iranian terror regime’s Marine Industries Organization and additional weapons production facilities,” the military said. IDF strikes Hezbollah terror targets across Lebanon The IDF is continuing its airstrikes and ground operations against Hezbollah across Lebanon. “Overnight, the IDF conducted strikes on dozens of targets from the air and sea across multiple areas in southern Lebanon, in support of ground troops and as part of the ongoing effort to degrade the capabilities of Hezbollah in the area,” the military announced Saturday morning. “Among the targets struck: weapons storage facilities, launchers, military structures, and additional terrorist infrastructure.” Besides dismantling Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon, the IDF targeted the group’s Shia-Jihadist leadership. On Friday, “the IDF conducted a targeted strike in Beirut and eliminated Ayyoub Hussein Yaacoub, a senior terrorist in Hezbollah’s Communications Unit,” the military disclosed. “Previously, he served as a senior figure in the terrorist organization’s rocket unit, played a central role in fire management, and took part in directing launches toward the State of Israel throughout Operation Northern Arrows.
