Air defense systems were activated to intercept the threat, the military said, as sirens sounded across Beersheba and surrounding communities in the Negev. Residents were instructed to follow Home Front Command guidelines amid the unfolding situation. Shortly before the sirens, the IDF identified the launch originating from Yemen, with the projectile heading toward southern Israel. Alerts were subsequently triggered in Beersheba and nearby areas, while a preliminary warning was also issued regarding the possibility of sirens in Eilat. The Houthis enter the conflict as the U.S. military intensifies operations to break Iran’s stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, which accounts for around 20% of global oil trade. Arak is home to Iran’s key nuclear reactor, which, according to the Israel Hayom newspaper, is “capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium.” The plant in Yazd is used to process uranium for the weapons program. “The sites were struck in parallel with the heavy water plant in Arak, which served as a key production site of plutonium for nuclear weapons, and a unique facility in Iran used to produce explosive materials required for the uranium enrichment process, located in Yazd,” the IDF added. “The strike sortie included three waves of strikes that lasted several hours, during which main facilities of the nuclear weapons program in Arak and Yazd, as well as weapons production sites of the Iranian regime’s forces, were targeted.” On Saturday afternoon, the IDF announced hitting the headquarters of the Iranian naval ships and weapons production. “The IDF struck the headquarters of the Iranian terror regime’s Marine Industries Organization and additional weapons production facilities,” the military said.
